Cocoa's Diary August, 2026

In August 2026, Cocoa, a charming chocolate Labrador, enjoyed various activities based primarily around daily walks in Orangeville. This month was filled with different weather conditions like clear skies and overcast clouds, which didn't deter Cocoa from his daily excursions.

Cocoa's leash manners were impressive, especially around other dogs. While walking, Cocoa showed remarkable progress by sitting and waiting calmly as other dogs passed by, especially during busy times when many other dogs were out for walks.

Cocoa often interacted with other dogs and people. For instance, when the postman prepared for delivery, Cocoa was curious and ready to join him for a ride but eventually understood that the postman was busy. During his walks, Cocoa also made friends with other dogs, including a friendly female husky, although a male husky was more reserved due to past experiences with other dogs.

The walks varied in length and pace. During these walks, Cocoa delighted in exploring tall grass and occasionally met groups of people, sitting politely and waiting for interactions. On one evening, he explored tall grass and underbrush along a trail, and on another day, he patiently waited as other dogs passed by. He often sat down when he spotted other dogs, in hopes of greeting them, and showed good behavior by walking politely with his owner. Cocoa also enjoyed the cooler times during the month by rolling in the grass and exploring different areas, like the boulders in front of the public school. He even helped a neighbor with yard work, inspecting sticks in their yard.

Cocoa's walks weren't just about exercise but also included important training. For example, Cocoa was trained to “sit” and “wait” as other dogs passed by, a skill he handled with increasing consistency.

With the Biota team, Cocoa also had joyful walks led by various guides, including Claire, Raina, Stephanie, and Natalie. During one of his walks with Claire, Cocoa found joy in rolling in the grass and even engaging in games like "find it". At times, Cocoa showed a bit of stubbornness, choosing to lie down rather than continue walking, but he eventually learned to continue with some gentle encouragement. Similarly, on another day, he showed off his calm and polite nature while walking with Natalie, enjoying a few pees and even showcasing his new harness with pride.

Overall, August 2026 was a month full of wonderful moments for Cocoa as he explored the outdoors, interacted with other dogs, and enjoyed fun-filled walks with his friends from Biota. It proved to be an excellent time for bonding, exploration, and training amid the picturesque setting of Orangeville.
